Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) at Newton Primary School
If you are concerned about the progress your child is making in school please talk to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Your child’s class teacher will be able to show you the age related progress your child has made and the outcomes they are expected to achieve by the end of the school year they are currently in. The class teacher will also be able to explain what support is in place within the classroom to help your child make progress against their objectives.
If you or your child’s class teacher continues to be concerned that progress against the objectives set is still not being made, some specific interventions may need to be undertaken. These can be in a group or individually. Following on from this, the school will then consider your child’s needs further. A SEND plan will be written to show how to achieve the desired outcomes and further support and interventions will be put in place. Then reviews of the progress against the outcomes will take place at regular intervals. We are currently moving towards a process of half termly reviews.
