E-Safety / Online Safety

At Newton Primary School, keeping children safe online is an important part of our curriculum. Online Safety is taught regularly through both our Computing and PSHE lessons, helping pupils develop the knowledge and skills they need to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully. During Computing lessons, we use high-quality resources from Common Sense Education to explore a range of age-appropriate online safety topics.

Each year, we also celebrate Safer Internet Day, providing opportunities for children across the school to explore current online safety issues and discuss how to make positive choices when using technology.

Our Digital Leaders, made up of pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6, play an important role in promoting online safety across the school. They help to lead assemblies, share important online safety messages and organise competitions and activities to engage other pupils.

Through regular teaching and whole-school activities, we aim to help our children become confident, responsible and safe digital citizens.
